What can you do with a tennis court if you no longer play tennis! The tennis court had to be left intact underneath. The client had visited Chelsea and wanted something really stunning, unusual and slightly oriental. Low maintenance and raised beds were needed.

Susan designed the entire garden. It is definitely a work of art with its flowing lines, meandering pathways, boulders which form the raised beds, waterfall and simple splash pool and bespoke G&T house. There is a gravel garden central to the theme which requires raking from time to time. Rich vibrant colours of evergreen azaleas sprawl among the raised beds, bamboos flex and sway, grasses whisper. The waterfall and stream bubble and froth and were very soon colonised by ‘mind your own business’ which continues to nestle in all the cool nooks and crannies between the stones. The garden has an inner peace and is very restful. Apart from the membrane which has been used beneath the garden to suppress weed growth everything else has been constructed using natural materials, reclaimed stone, local gravel, wood, trees and plants.
